Christmas Wassail Recipe

December 18, 2017

I love old traditions, especially around the holidays. One of my favorite and easy things to make is Christmas Wassail. It makes your house smell amazing with all the spices and it's so delicious too! A real crowd pleaser at parties and elegant. Here's the recipe. Enjoy!

1 bottle of Red Wine (I typically pick a Cabernet)

Apple Cider (I like Louisburg Cider) 2 or 3 cups

Honey (1/4 cup)

Cinnamon Sticks (3 to 4)

Vanilla Bean (or Vanilla Extract)

Nutmeg (1 teaspoon)

Whole Cloves (1 teaspoon)

Star of Anise (2 to 3)

Orange (1 cut in whole slices)

Directions:

Mix Wine, Cider and Honey on med high and bring to a simmer.

Mix spices and orange in. Either directly into saucepan or you can tie in cheesecloth.

Let simmer for at least 30 mins. You can leave on stove for hours.

Pour into copper or glass mugs. Garnish with cinnamon sticks and cranberries.

Enjoy!
